..:: Willow The Whisp ::..
Willow the Whisp is Jeff's most famous creation. He is a masked and mysterious super heel, who enters the ring dancing to the music of Marilyn Manson. Taken from the Hardy Boyz book "Exist 2 Inspire", Jeff describes him:
"The name Willow the Whisp came from the Marvel Comics bad guy Will O'The Whisp, which in turn came from an English folktale about a guy who was murdered, and then his body was dumped into a swamp. His ghost became known as the will-o'-the-whisp. It was a mischievous spirit that would appear as a bright light which led travelers off the road into the marshes. A more scientific explanation would be that the light was just marchs gas, but thats the legend.
Willow was inspired by my love of Jushin "Thunder" Liger, the legendary Japanese wrestler. Liger's look and his style were such a huge influence on me. He looked like a real-life superhero. He combined great mat wrestling with awesome high flying - he really stood out in contrast with the WWE Heavyweights I grew up watching.
Willow the Whisp was supposed to be pure evil. He was known as the Demon from Down Under - I used to be introduced as being from Broken Hill, Australia. Even though he was a heel, he was just insanely over. It was such an amazing looking character, mostly thanks to Ted Hobgood, who made the masks. They were so intricate and whacked out!
It blows my mind how to this day, people come up to me and want to talk about Willow.
